Woodmansterne village May Queen parade and fete - 2nd May 2022


Woodmansterne Village May Queen Fete takes place on the Village Green on Monday the 2nd May 2022. The procession will leave from The Readens at 12.50pm and travel up Chipstead Way, arriving on the Village Green at approx. 1.15pm.


This year’s May Queen is Emily Alice Furnell. She will be crowned by the Worshipful Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Cllr Jill Bray and her consort and husband Mr Richard
Mantle.

Emily, aged 12, has lived in Woodmansterne since she was 4. She joined the May Queen Group in 2017. She previously attended 1st Woodmansterne Beavers and Cubs. Her hobbies include ballet dancing, hockey, netball, reading and martial arts.

Following the crowning of Emily as the 2022 May Queen, there will be performances in the arena from local groups including Italia Conti Dance and Hidden Gems Theatre School. Woodmansterne Brownies will be dancing around the Maypole and St Peter’s Church will be running children’s games. There will also be a Punch and Judy performance and the afternoon will end with the raffle. First prize this year is £500, donated by Natalie Mulcahy at Power Bespoke Property Negotiators.

Stalls at the fete this year will include a children’s rides, local businesses, tombola’s, raffle, refreshments and many more. 

This year the fete will be raising money for local charities as well as The National Deaf Children’s Society (Registered charity no: 1016532) and Cancer Research UK (Registered charity no: 1089464) both of which are fantastic charities which are close to Emily’s heart.
