Chipstead Lodge is expected to open at the end of February 2021
Chipstead Lodge, at the top of Hazelwood Land, closed as a residential care home in 2018 and Surrey County Council obtained permission to convert it into housing for adults with learning difficulties, many probably suffering from autism. As well as 12 en suite living units there are shared areas for socialising and games and care is being put into the garden so it will provide a sensory experience. Care has also been taken to preserve many of the building’s Victorian features including internal wood panelling and cornices and externally much of the original brick and flint is still intact. Good progress has been made and the constructers hope that the modules will be open by the end of February 2021. The name of the building is being changed to Chipstead Court to differentiate it from the old care home.
