Following the outstanding response from Chipstead Residents to act as Road and Pastoral Volunteers at the beginning of this current crisis there has been an equally impressive response in support of the Foodbank set up by the CRA and CVPS Covid 19 Steering group.
More than 100 families have made donations that go to the 6 major foodbanks in the Borough, contributing around 1000 emergency food parcels to families in distress. We are one of the largest of the collection points in the Borough and contributions are making a real difference.
From June 18th Thursdays’ collections will be at the Parish Office at St. Margaret’s Church as the Chipstead pre-school will be opening again in the Peter Aubertin Hall from June 8th.
Donations should be brought to the Church between 11am and 1pm. Contributors should go through the Lych Gate and follow the direction signs.
Both CHIPSTEAD GOLF CLUB and CHIPSTEAD RUGBY CLUB have responded to the present crisis by offering food supplies to local residents.
The Rugby Club has started to supply Covent Garden Vegetable Boxes on a weekly basis. Where people are self- isolating they will deliver. The cost is £20 with high quality fruit and vegetables. Contact at the Club is jofful@gmail.com. The Club is also offering Rotisserie Chicken meals for 1,2 or 4 people that can be pre ordered from info@chez-plume.co.uk or on 07753233076 and collected from the Club on Wednesday evenings.
The Golf club is offering a GROCERY SERVICE - by email through the website – chipstead@deliveredinstyle.uk – provided by the new club caterers Style Group Ltd, owned and lead by Kevin Sarbutts. You can, alternatively, place an order online at www.deliveredinstyle.uk
A very wide range of food products are available, as well as cooked meals that can be collected from the club or delivered to your home.
The Chipstead W.I. Committee has been proactive in their strategies. Members have been issued with patterns enabling them to sew scrubs for the NHS and committee members have maintained regular contact with other members, checking on their well-being.
Once again we are especially grateful to the members of the Chipstead Village Covid 19 Support Group;
Simon Kolesar, Stella Bury, Rebecca Fitch-Carpenter, Jon Grant and Lilly Scrimgeour, organised through the CRA and CVPS, for their huge effort on our behalf.
