Chipstead Village

Surrey

CORONAVIRUS

There has been an excellent response with establishing a support system in the village. We currently have 75 ‘road volunteers’ offering help with shopping for the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions. In addition there are 13 ‘pastoral volunteers’ offering support for anyone who may benefit from this.

Additional road and pastoral volunteers would still be very welcome, especially as demand may rise in the coming months.

Virtually all roads are covered – the only exceptions being;

-        Station Approach

-        Outwood Lane south of the railway viaduct in the direction of Kingswood.

Additional road volunteers please contact, stellabury@btinternet.com

We also have a team of volunteers who are prepared to telephone (or be telephoned by) people who would like a chat. If you are contacting Lilly on behalf of someone whom you believe will benefit from some pastoral contact, please ensure that you have that person’s permission first.

Additional pastoral volunteers please contact, Lilly on 07928890393

Further details of the road volunteers are on the village website at the link below:

This exceptional effort is due to the work of the steering group of Simon Kolesar, Stella Bury and Jon Grant of the CVPS, Rebecca Fitch-Carpenter of the CRA and Lilly Scrimgeour (working with the CRA).

It is hoped to provide a flyer with information of which shops are open in Chipstead, Coulsdon and Banstead and which shops are offering home deliveries.

There are other groups and businesses offering help at this difficult time for everyone, for which we are all grateful.

The Corner Shop, thanks to Kiru, is able to deliver some groceries to those households who already have their newspaper delivered. Please contact KIru on 01737 552 836.
