Some of our local railway stations, including Chipstead, have each been awarded £30,000 to provide additional benefits for passengers. The fund comes from a fine imposed on Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) after the disruptions suffered by passengers in the summer of 2018.

The CRA is a member of the East Surrey Transport Committee which has submitted proposals to GTR as to how the money could be spent at the various stations included in the scheme. The main proposal for Chipstead is a new weather shelter on the London platform for passengers wishing to board the rear coaches of a 5 coach train.
