Chipstead Has a New Website!

Chipstead’s first website was launched in 2008 and has served the village well. From small beginnings the site has grown steadily to become a treasure trove of information and news about the village, well supported by volunteers who have added articles and news over the years.

The key elements of the website continue to be the calendar showing future village events, village news articles, a comprehensive history of the village and its people and information about village clubs and societies.

In 2010 it was decided to promote our local shops and businesses with the addition of the free Shop Local section, which has proven to be very useful. Also added in 2012 is the wonderful Village Archive, the brainchild of our Village Archivist, Rupert Courtenay-Evans, which is a cornucopia of articles on village history, mainly focussed on people who have lived in the village.

We must thank the CRA/CVPS Website Committee for all their hard work in maintaining and developing the site.

However, technology changes over the years and this year it was decided to completely update the site and bring it up to current standards. These days 70% of people visit websites from their mobile phones, as well as from tablets and laptops. So the site has been updated to make it easily accessible from a variety of devices. This work has been jointly funded by the CRA and CVPS.

The new site has much the same 'look and feel', but with much enhanced presentation of text and images. The site will be built up over the coming weeks. The original address at chipsteadvillage.org has been retained.

Please have a look at the new site and if you have any suggestions about how it could be improved or want additional information included, please contact: chipsteadnews@gmail.com
