Major Beneficiaries

Major Beneficiaries of Grants and Loans from the Chipstead Village Preservation Society (CVPS)

Peter Aubertin HallPA Hall Clocktower

The Peter Aubertin Hall is the centre of village community activities and is fully supported by the CVPS. During the last 8 years almost £30,000 has been donated to assist with projects such as new toilets, internal decoration, new window frames, restoration of the weather vane and refurbishment of the clock.

St Margaret's ChurchSt. Margaret's Church

St. Margaret's Church dating back to the 12th Century often requires repairs. The Church is fortunate to have the support of the Friends of St. Margaret's when raising funds for major projects and purchases. Nevertheless the CVPS donated £5,000 in 1998 towards restoration of the stonework.

Hooley Community Hall

In 1998 an interest free loan of £2,000 was provided towards the cost of roof repairs.

Hooley Residents' Association

The CVPS were able to assist financially with the construction of a footpath from the top of Star Lane to the churchyard. This now links with the woodland path through Embers Shaw making a very busy road safe for pedestrians.

Mugswell Mission Hall

A donation of £3,400 was granted in response to a recent request for help with the installation of toilets. Together with funds raised by Mugswell Villagers the use of this charming old building, reminiscent of bygone days, is enjoyed more comfortably by many.

Meads Car Park

£3,800 has been donated towards the Meads Car Park extension and together with other donations about 30 more parking spaces have been created. On specific occasions during the year parking continues to be a problem in the village, a matter we are addressing.

How Green

£1750 has been spent removing tree stumps, overgrown scrub and brambles from How Green. This clearance gave space and light enabling the generous planting of thousands of crocuses, bluebells and snowdrops by Reigate & Banstead Council. Ladies from Chipstead Golf Club also planted many daffodils. This huge improvement will be a joy to behold by all in spring. Further progress is being made in clearing paths on either side of How Lane.
